Mittenwald

By The Thistle Modelmakers Society (Built by The Raven Family)

Mittenwald is a small country terminus Banhof in southern Bavaria in the early steam era in ‘HO’ scale.

The layout is set in winter and was originally built by Norman Raven so that his wife Meg could run her favourite Glaskasten locomotives in one of their familiar snowy backdrops.

There are barren trees and a sprinkling of snow where a touch of glitter adds to the overall frosty atmosphere.

There are also many cameo scenes depicting activities during the late 1920’s and early 1930’s.

Early German locomotives can be seen running passenger trains and shunting wagons in the small goods yard.
